The Diabetes Coalition of California (DCC) is an independent organization consisting of individuals and agencies dedicated to the recognition and reduction of the adverse personal and public impact of diabetes in the state's diverse communities. The Coalition is comprised of representatives from the general public, local health departments, universities, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, and a variety of community-based, voluntary, health and professional organizations.

Seven critical areas have been identified by the Coalition because of their importance in reducing the burden of diabetes in California.

  1. Improving access to health care services.
  2. Increasing public awareness.
  3. Establishing treatment guidelines.
  4. Increasing knowledge of diabetes among health care professionals.
  5. Increasing research and surveillance.
  6. Increasing prevention and early detection.
  7. Advocacy for diabetes legislation.

The Diabetes Coalition of California is concerned about all persons with diabetes and those at risk for developing this serious disease. It is hoped that the Coalition’s efforts will make a difference in the lives of persons with diabetes.

DCC Active Member Survey

In Fall 2007, the Membership Committee conducted a short survey of active coalition members to collect information to increase the involvement and participation of DCC members.  Based on the feedback from the survey, DCC Leadership is working to provide better communication and guidance to coalition members and improve the online DCC Member Center.  Click here to download summary survey results.
